What You Need to Know About Siri

Although Siri has been around for quite some time now, she can still manage to surprise you. Since she first appeared on the iPhone 4S, her intelligence has tremendously grown! Her abilities have also greatly expanded.

How well do you know Apple’s voice-controlled personal assistant? If you’re an Apple user, you should know what Siri is capable of. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to find an official list of Siri commands anywhere because Apple hasn’t published one, but isn’t half the fun in the surprise?

What are the Things that You Need to Know About Siri?

How to Get Siri’s Attention

To activate Siri, you only need to press and hold the home button. If you’re an iPhone X user, you’ll need to hold the side button to ask her a question or issue a command. If you’re using Apple’s AirPods, you can get Siri’s attention by double-tapping on any of the two pods. For Apple’s Earpods users, simply press and hold the center button. If you’re using an iPhone 6 or earlier or if you’ve enabled Hey Siri, you’ll only need to say “Hey, Siri” when your phone is plugged in and charging.

Alternatively, with an iPhone 6s or a much newer iPhone, you won’t have to plug the phone in to say “Hey, Siri.” Finally, if you’re using a Mac, you have the option to create a keyboard shortcut for bringing up Siri or you can click on the Siri icon in the menu bar.

Siri is Multilingual

Did you know that Siri can easily translate five different languages? Starting with iOS 11, she can speak German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Mandarin. If you want to use this feature, you only need to ask, “How do you say where is the kitchen in Spanish?”

Siri will automatically read the translation out loud while you see the text on the screen. You can also find a play button right beside the text and you can choose to replay the translation as needed.
