Tips and Tricks to Make Siri Smarter

Whether it’s finding a place to eat or setting an alarm, you’ll want to use Siri’s ability to minimize the number of taps it takes to get everything done. With Apple’s recent software updates, the voice-powered assistant has received significant upgrades that allow you to control your smart home devices in a snap or check information without opening your apps.

Thankfully, we’ve discovered a few tips and tricks to make Siri smarter and more personalized.

How To Make Siri Smarter

Before anything else, you should know how to call Siri. Just like any other smart speaker, your Apple HomePod is always ready to listen for Siri’s wake word. However, most users prefer to call the digital assistant using their iPhones because it has different ways of summoning Siri.

Does Siri find it challenging to recognize your words? Here’s what you should do:

  • First, head over to Settings > Siri & Search.
  • Next, you’ll want to retrain your iPhone to accurately recognize your voice. You can do this by pressing the Side Button for Siri and/or turn Listen for “Hey Siri” off and on until you see the pop-up that says, Set Up “Hey Siri”.
  • Turn on Always Show Speech. This allows you to see when the smart assistant misinterprets what you just said. If Siri got something wrong, you can replace the incorrect text with the right word by tapping the text of your question.

After completing these steps, Siri should get a better grasp of how you speak in the future. However, the simplest thing you can do to keep Siri smart is to use it as often as you can.

With the recent iOS 14.5 upgrade, you can teach Siri to play your favorite music via Spotify or other third-party music services. If you want to recognize certain commands that are more complex than the most common ones, just set up a shortcut in the Shortcuts app.
