Quick Start: A Step-By-Step Guide to Transferring Data from Your Old iPhone

Are you thinking about purchasing an iPhone soon? With Quick Start, you can get your new iPhone up and running with all your data, settings, and contacts transferred from your old device! Since the transfer process may take more than a few minutes, pick a time when you won’t use your phone.

Ensure that both devices are charged with the old iPhone’s Bluetooth and the Wi-Fi turned on. If you’re using a pre-owned iPhone, erase it and reset it to factory default.

How to Transfer Information from An Old iPhone to a New One

Step 1: Place the Old iPhone Next to The New One

As soon as you power on your new device, place it next to the old one. Click Continue once you see a screen appearing on the old iPhone asking if you wish to use your Apple ID for setting up the new phone.

Step 2: Hold the Old iPhone Over the New Device Once the Animation Appears

As soon as you see an animation appearing on the new iPhone, hold the old phone over it. Once you see a viewing window, try to center the animation in it. A message will prompt you to Finish on New iPhone. Tap Authenticate Manually if your old phone’s camera isn’t working.

Step 3: Enter the Passcode and Set Up Face ID or Touch ID

When prompted, enter the old iPhone’s passcode on your new device. Be sure that you follow the instructions and Set Up Face ID or Touch ID on the new iPhone. Next, you’ll be asked to enter your Apple ID password.

Step 4: Choose Transfer Directly From iPhone

When asked how you want to transfer information to your new phone, choose Transfer Directly from iPhone.

Step 5: Choose the Settings You Wish to Transfer

You’ll be at the point in the process where you can choose some of the settings you’ve been planning to transfer. These include Siri, privacy, location, and Apple Pay.
