iOS 14: Guide to Organizing Your Home Screen with The App Library

Do you find it a bit challenging to keep track of your iPhone apps? Luckily, Apple’s new iOS 14 comes with an all-new App Library! This works to organize various apps into categorized folders. Folders including, but not limited to:  

  • Recently Added Apps
  • Suggested Apps
  • Game
  • Shopping
  • Travel
  • Entertainment
  • Social

How Can You Organizing Your Home Screen with The New App Library

Updating Your iPhone to iOS 14

If you haven’t updated your iPhone to iOS 14, go to Settings ˃ General ˃ Software Update ˃ Automatic Updates. You can expect your iOS device to update to the latest iOS version automatically. If you have your phone set for automatic updates, this process will be completed overnight while connected to Wi-Fi.

Opening the App Library

Go to your home screen and swipe to the left until you find the App Library screen. You may view all of the folders in your library by swiping down the screen. Some apps have large icons while others are smaller and organized in groups of four.  

Simply tap a large icon if you want to open it. If you want to open a smaller icon, you can tap anywhere in the quadrant of four icons to maximize the folder. Once you find the app with the small icon, tap it and you are ready to go!

Searching for Apps

To find an app, just swipe down on the App Library screen to see the list of apps on your phone that are organized in alphabetical order.  

To see the apps that start with the same letter, tap a letter on the right-hand side of your screen. To find an exact app, simply type the name of the app in the search field at the top of the library and tap the icon you want to use.

Adding and Removing Apps to The Home Screen

Add an app from your App Library to your home screen by tapping the icon, this will open the command menu. Next, tap Add to Home Screen.

You may remove an app from your home screen by pressing down and holding the app’s icon and tapping the Remove App, or Delete App if you want it off your phone. If you only want to remove it from your home screen, simply tap Move to App Library.
