iOS 14.5: How to Switch to a New Siri Voice

After years spent talking to the same ol’ Siri, Apple’s iOS 14.5 update gives you two additional voices to choose from! Besides adding two new voices, Apple made a few understated improvements to the previous ones.

Having the liberty to choose from more smart assistant voices when you’re setting up your new device can be totally refreshing. If you’re thinking about changing the voice of Apple’s famous digital assistant, be glad to know that you can do it at any time.

As soon as you make a switch on your iPhone or iPad, your voice of choice will apply to your other Apple devices. If you know where to look, you’ll discover that the process of switching between voices is far from being complicated. To get you started, take a closer look at how you can do this.

Your Guide to Switching to a New Siri Voice

Is it your first time to set up a new device? You’ll be asked which voice you prefer for Siri to use. Don’t be surprised if the default voice for Apple’s digital assistant is no longer female.

However, if you have no plans of buying another iPhone in the foreseeable future, you’ll have to install iOS 14.5 to change to one of the new voices. To find the new voices for your iPhone or iPad, simply follow these steps:

  • Head over to the Settings app.

  • Tap Siri & Search > Siri Voice.

Under this section, you should find four different voice options that sound natural and realistic. The newest options are Voice 2 and Voice 3.

  • If you want to hear a preview, simply tap each option.

Once you’ve made a choice, you’ll have to download the files on your device. Each time you select a voice, you should see Downloading… and a loading animation. As soon as the download is completed, your selection will be synced to the rest of your Apple devices.
