iOS 14.2: Tips for Using Shazam Music Recognition

If you’ve been a proud iPhone user for quite some time now, you may have been using Shazam on your device. Although Apple purchased this music recognition app in 2018, it was never integrated into its system software until iOS 14.2 was released. Today, Music Recognition is made readily available in your phone’s Control Center. As long as you update your iOS or iPadOS 14.2, you won’t have to install the Shazam app to identify music.

Including Shazam in Your Device’s Control Center

Your Control Center doesn’t automatically include Music Recognition after updating your system to iOS 14.2. If you want to access the Shazam button in the Control Center easily, you must add it from your phone’s Settings.

To make this happen, go to Settings and select Control Center. You’ll be able to see a list of Included Controls that are already in your Control Center. Below this list is another list of More Controls that you can also add. Once you spot the Music Recognition in the More Controls List, you may tap the plus sign next to Music Recognition.

Do you want to change the placement of Music Recognition? You may easily change its placement or any other button in the Control Center by rearranging the order of the Included Controls. Just press the three lines that you see on the right side of one of the listed controls before dragging it to where you want to place it in the list.

Using Shazam Music Recognition

If you want to identify the music you’re about to turn on, or that is already playing, simply swipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen to open Control Center. If you’re using iPhone 9, SE, you have to swipe up from the bottom. Next, you can touch the Shazam button until it lights up to tell you that it’s listening for music.

You’ll be able to see a banner appearing with the song title and brief information about the artist once Shazam identifies your song. If you want to get more information on Shazam’s website, simply tap on the banner. Once you get to the Shazam website, you’ll be able to play the song and read the lyrics.
