How to Take an iPhone Screenshot with AssistiveTouch

Is your broken home button making it difficult for you to take an iPhone screenshot? Be glad to know that you don’t have to press the required button combination on your iPhone’s buttons to trigger this action. With AssistiveTouch, you can take screenshots in a snap.

What is AssistiveTouch?

Did you know that your Apple smartphone comes with an accessibility feature called AssistiveTouch? Besides making it extremely easy for you to simulate button presses and physical gestures with your onscreen menu, this feature also allows you to take a screenshot in many ways.

How Can I Activate AssistiveTouch?

If you want to enable AssistiveTouch, simply follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings on your device.
  • Next, be sure to tap Accessibility
  • Tap Touch.
  • Find AssistiveTouch and turn it on by tapping it.

Once this feature is turned on, you should see the AssistiveTouch button located near the edge of the screen. This button looks like a rounded square with a circle inside it. You’ll always see this button on the screen and you can drag it with your finger when you want to move it around.

How Can I Trigger a Screenshot Using This Feature?

  • Find the Custom Actions section by scrolling down the page and tap it.
  • When a list of actions appears, find Screenshot and tap Back.

Depending on your iPhone model, you can choose to experiment to trigger a screenshot by single-tapping, double-tapping, long-pressing, or 3D-touching the onscreen AssistiveTouch button.

You can also use the AssistiveTouch menu to trigger a screenshot. Here’s how you can do it:

  • Launch Settings > Touch > AssistiveTouch
  • Set Single-Tap in the Custom Actions list to Open Menu.
  • Tap the AssistiveTouch button once whenever you want to trigger a screenshot.
  • Once the pop-up menu appears, choose Device > More before tapping Screenshot to capture a screenshot in an instant.
