How to Master Your AirPods Pro

Your new AirPods Pro may be tiny, but they can work with any of your Apple devices. If you want to get more out of these wireless earbuds, we’ve pulled together a list of tips and tricks to help you master them.

Tricks to Make the Most of Your AirPods Pro

Pair Them with Your Apple Device

As soon as you’ve unboxed your AirPods Pro, unlock the Apple devices you’ve signed in to your iCloud account before you open the charging case to your wireless earbuds. You should see a prompt showing up on your iPhone or iPad asking if you would want to pair the Airpods Pro. To initiate the pairing, simply tap Connect.

Use Your Earbud Stems as Buttons

While there isn’t an actual button on the stems of your AirPods Pro, each of them has pressure-sensitive sections that are designed to replicate how you’ll use a button. Instead of tapping, use your two fingers to squeeze the flat indentations. You should hear a click in your ears each time you press them.

Here’s a look at what you can do with each press:

  • Single-press to Pause or Play
  • Double-press to skip forward
  • Triple-press to skip backward
  • Long-press to switch between transparency mode and noise cancellation

Monitor Battery Life

You can check your AirPod Pro’s charge level and its charging case by unlocking your Apple device and opening the case next to it with the wireless earbuds inside it. You’ll see an animation that shows you the charge level of the case and each earbud.

Use Active Noise Cancellation

You can block almost all background noise by activating your AirPods Pro’s noise cancellation feature. To turn off noise cancellation, you may press and hold one of the earbud’s buttons or use the control center on your Apple device. Next, swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to make the control center appear before you long-press on the device’s volume slider.

You should see three setting options at the bottom of the screen – Noise Cancellation, Off, or Transparency. Tap on the option you wish to use.

Use Transparency Mode

To hear the audio playing without completely blocking off the noise in your environment, switch to Transparency mode. Use the toggle in Control Center or by long-press on the earbuds’ buttons.
